ActionSA Tshwane Mayoral candidate Abel Tau flanked by his party’s councillor candidates, strode the canvassing road with enthusiasm, as they visited Mabopane Station doing a walk-about and voter engagement.
Tau addressed the community and street vendors about the changes and the vision he has for them, he promised the community a better living, a healthy and clean environment and also to help in fighting gender based violence case.
He encouraged people to go out and vote on the 1st of November, persuading them to vote for him. Last year about 18.3 million South Africans did not cast their vote.
The engagement with the community was positive, people were responding were receptive to his messages and accepting pamphlets that were handed over by the candidate and the community promised to vote for him.
‘’The most important message for our agenda is to ensure that the message gets out there, and for the people to know that after the elections South Africa will never be the same again because there will be a party that prioritises South Africans. We are known as ActionSA because we were called to act on issues, that affect the people of S.A and that are what we want to do,” said Tau.
Tau further said “We are going to stand for our country without any fear or favour. We are going to make sure that we insource vulnerable workers to municipalities. We are going to make sure that south Africans are placed at the centre were they could be able to thrive, through the government that works for them.’’
The other issue that came to his attention was the accusation by local vendors that illegal migrants were taking over the street vending market leaving South Africans with less hustling opportunities.
‘’In the next coming years we will be led by immigrants and we will be begging for spaces, if we go to construction companies you find them and that decrease the chances of us being employed because they accept any compensation rate. They are even alleged to producing illegal substances. We want a fair living environment; we need jobs and fair opportunities. We all have families to feed and maintain. Please let our votes be our voices.’’ said by Mr. Masilela who is one of the street vendors at the station.
During the canvassing, Abel Tau promised the community that his party is willing to prioritise the safety of South Africans and to make sure that they influence the intake of employment in the metro police because that has not been happening in the past 5 years. He also mentioned that ActionSA is the only party that is capable of taking Tshwane beyond its limitations and it is the only party that is bold enough to put their mayoral candidate out there so that people can know who they are voting for.
After he assessed the situation of the community of Mabopane, he promised to offer a helping hand and also promised that the votes that he asked for won’t go to waste.
