Kgatoentle Secondary School in Ga-Rankuwa has been formally reopened by Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga and Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane.
Students, teachers, community leaders, and government representatives were among the attendees at the handover ceremony of the rebuilt school, which took place in a crowded multipurpose hall.
The school, formerly known as LG Holele Secondary, benefited from an infrastructure development initiative run by the Gauteng education department in 2023. The programme upgraded the school’s outdated facilities, which included dilapidated fences and roofs.

Motshekga urged pupils to use the new school resources to enhance their academic performance and realise that the resources will enable learning to be easier for them.
Comprising 46 educators, the cutting-edge school offers two consumer centres, a sports centre with showers and changing rooms, a nutrition centre, a water reticulation system, WiFi, and a multipurpose hall.
Minister Motshekga continues her address to the learners at Kgatoentle Secondary School with a special focus on teenage pregnancy, bullying, and substance abuse, and encouraging learners to focus on their education rather than delay their future with destructive activities.
“We urged pupils to take advantage of the new school resources to improve their academic performance and to understand how the resources would make learning easier.”

“The most important thing is for you to focus on your books. It’s only respect and humility we ask of you,” said Motshekga
