Soshanguve based Oratilwe Foundation in collaboration with Tswelopele Literature Club hosted a reading competition held at the Christ Centre of Restoration. The competition served as part of Tswelopele Literature Club’s Literary Outreach Incubation Programme, which aims at making inevitable literature change.
Pupils from grades 4 to 7 from local schools participated in the contest, displaying their reading abilities to the crowd.

Jeanet Selepe, the founder of the Oratilwe Foundation, expressed her gratitude to stakeholders for participating in such initiatives.
Selepe revealed that the Tswelopele Literature Club Reading Competition is the kind of initiative that aligns perfectly with the foundation’s vision and goal to develop children for a greater future.
“The Oratilwe Foundation serves as a back-to-school pillar. We assist our children with their homework every day after school and as a foundation.”

“We are pleased to have Tswelopele Literature Club donating books and handing our young ones a platform to showcase their reading skills,” said Selepe.
Despite being a competition, Selepe outlined that the goal was beyond and marked every child who went up the podium as a winner.
Selepe was left impressed with the improvement of the kid’s reading: “The reading has improved massively; it’s not like before when our children struggled to read, so our biggest thanks to parents and organizations such as Tswelopele Literature Club for assisting us with improving the literacy rate in our community.”

Miss Teen Grand South Africa 2023, Kagiso Mashishi and Miss Face of Africa SA 2023, Palesa Mtshweni were also present during the competition to inspire the children.
Selepe received the Best Community Builder certificate at the programme’s conclusion in recognition of her efforts on behalf of the foundation. Medals and diplomas were also given to the winning readers.
