“We have noticed that unemployment in our communities is higher than average,” said Thato Madisha, the organisation’s chairperson.
“We then decided to work with companies that are also willing to alleviate unemployment in our communities”, Madisha adds. Programme participants are not required to be of a certain age. All ages can be accommodated at any time.

According to Madisha, they offer youth-based programmes, but also agricultural projects for those above ages. Young people who are unemployed and seeking empowerment have taken advantage of the programme.
After the programme ends, companies will contact the recruitment list candidates.

In conclusion, Madisha stated, “Based on the number of people attending the programmes and looking at the statistics we were provided, we cannot say if unemployment is high or low in some areas.”
In Eersterust there were only approximately 50 young people who attended the programme. We will be able to estimate when we host another event in the same area”, said Madisha.
