During this economic downturn, some families struggle to pay for essentials. However, Mmusi Maimane, the president of Build One South Africa, has offered assistance to a Soshanguve school.
His visit to Memezelo Secondary School in Soshanguve is part of his effort to motivate learners in the area, as well as to demonstrate his concern for them.
Maimane is on community engagement to increase Build One South Africa’s visibility and understanding of issues affecting people.
The students received 96 pads, 96 roll-ons, and 96 tissues from Maimane during his visit, as part of the party’s empowerment programme.
“We want to make sure that no child feels poverty as it has become common in our country. This youth month, we need to show impact in communities; donations will make a difference,” said Maimane.
“Youth unemployment is very high at over 75%, graduate unemployment is significantly lower at only 12% – a clear demonstration that educational opportunities have a direct correlation to economic opportunities,” added Maimane.
Learners were overjoyed to receive gifts from BOSA Presidents. Boys were especially pleased that the program included them since most donors only target girls.

Memezelo Secondary School principal Prince Malamulele said he is grateful for the donation because it helps those in dire need.
“Sanitary towels are always a necessity for women. We often have to buy them from our own pockets if learners request them, added the principal.
