The Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University Sports Complex was filled with hundreds of First Time Entering Students (FTENs).
Prof Tandi Matsha-Erasmus, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, and Mr Thato Masekoa, the current SRC President, have welcomed them to the University.
The new recruits were exposed to various University departments, such as academic administration, ICT, Student Affairs, Security Services, and Library Services.
A number of extracurricular activities were organized for the new students as they explored and became familiar with the SMU campus. The orientation days were also attended by Alizwa Boco, who was a top achiever in the Eastern Cape and is now a medical student at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University.
Boco, who earned seven distinctions, said she was delighted that other students were able to recognize her and to interact with fellow students as they began their academic careers.
SMU has proven to us, through these orientation days, that we are in good hands, and we are made to feel at home far away from home. We now know where to go for which services”, said Boco.
