On Thursday, family, friends, and members of the community attended a memorial service honoring Barcadi music artist Itumeleng Mosoeu, better known as Vusi Ma R5. The service took place at the Mabopane Indoor Sports Centre
A large number of mourners and colleagues turned out to pay their last respects and tributes to the “Tse Nyane” hitmaker.

Conny Lamola, a community member, described Mosoeu as a kind man who donated sanitary pads and food parcels to schools in the community. In her eyes, he was a hero.
“ Although my daughter excels at singing Amapiano, he taught her Barcadi music,” Lamola said.
Family spokesperson Tebogo Molelekeng expressed appreciation to the family, friends and community members as well as Mosoeu’s Team R5.
“As a fearless man, he didn’t require bouncer protection at gigs he attended,” Molelekeng said.
“The music industry still mourns DJ Sumbody’s death, whose alleged killers have yet to be arrested, while the murder of Vusi Ma R5 demonstrates further the government’s inability to turn society into a bloodbath where innocent people are killed daily..”

In the early hours of Monday morning, the King of Barcadi was fatally shot. According to reports, the shooting took place outside the tavern in Soshanguve Ext 13 with his friends at the time. There is no clear motive for the shooting at this time, police say.
