The City of Tshwane urges residents of Soshanguve to reduce water consumption, The City is experiencing high water consumption in various parts of Soshanguve which are supplied by the Soshanguve South reservoir.
The high consumption is making it difficult for the city to reach the required water level in the Soshanguve South reservoir which needs to be at over 40% to enable the city to start pumping into the Soshanguve Block L Tower.
This dramatic increase in consumption has left Block L, M, K and LKK which are supplied by the Block L Tower, without water for the past 5 days.
“We humbly urge residents of Soshanguve to use water sparingly to allow for the reservoir’s levels to increase to at least 60%.
According to a statement, the MMC said a recent increase in water usage in the city prompted Rand Water to control water flow to the city.
He pleaded with residents to use water sparingly so that the impact of the current water challenges could be minimised.
The bulk water supplier notified Tshwane of its intention to “control the flow of water to Tshwane in order to reduce water consumption”.
“Our water network in various parts of the city is severely strained due to high water demand (usage). The direct impact is extremely low levels within various reservoirs and towers. We are urging residents to reduce consumption. Don’t let your water consumption run out of control, if we don’t reduce consumption, we are at the risk of taps running dry. Said MMC.
He urged residents to reduce their water consumption urgently.
