Traditional Healer’s Organisation (THO) held an award certificate ceremony in Ga-Rankuwa to honour their newly registered healers.
In attendance were initiates led by the seniors who issued graduation certificates to recognise them as healers.
During the ceremony the was chanting of songs, telling the ancestors the graduation ceremony is about to begin.
The initiates are ready to go through with the graduation after 5days workshop for sangoma’s.
Before the certificate ceremony, the healers have to undergo a few workshops in which they are taught how to deal with patients and leadership skills among many other things.
The workshops take about a week to complete thereafter the newly registered healers are now required to follow the code of ethics enforced by the organisation and can now practice.
Kedibone Makamu Senior Promoter at Traditional Healer’s Organisation (THO) and Coordinator of the Ga-Rankuwa Circuit Traditionally known as Gogo Mavulindlela said that, “We want to bring back the traditional way of doing things, we want to bring back the dignity in the tradition.”
Mavulindlela speaks of animosity among healers and said that “The organisation brings us together as healers” she explained.
