Cheryl Maepa from Mabopane is an agent of change, who is passionate about youth and community development. She is a career facilitator and mentor; she is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Journey Arts and Career Centre from Mabopane Block U. She held an event called Arts & Lego Buddies at Mabopane Square Mall, North of Pretoria recently.
The event initially started during the Easter weekend but due to heavy rains that occurred it was moved to the past weekend. The event was inspired by the gap of parents and children as far as career guidance are concerned, it is also one of the tools they use for their career guidance, fusing art and technology. The activities that participants take part in include Arts & Crafts, beading, reading, and Lego Robotics.

They will be hosting the events like this at local malls to raise awareness on a monthly basis. They will also be opening their first centre in January 2022 at the Molefe Makinta Highway in Hebron.
They want to encourage parents to register their kids on their Career guidance programmes, where they use arts & technology to create a platform of opportunities.
“We would like to invite parents to join us as we bridge the gap between basic, higher education and the corporate world”. Their fees are affordable and there is great return on investment,” said Maepa.
