With the commencement of school attendance by learners, the South African Police Services launched #SaferSchool campaign which is a campaign aimed at protecting learners around Gauteng by ensuring the safety of all children.

The Dube SAPS at Winterveldt along with their station Commander Portia Malatsi, Social Crime prevention and patrollers visited schools around Winterveldt and Mmakaunyane as part of school safety program and introduction of ‘’ Adopt A Cop’’ which is a program that is meant to engage with educators and learners.

Learners were sensitized about bullying, substance abuse, teenage pregnancy and uncontrollable behavior to be reported to the police, also the welcoming of the new learners to be monitored.

Makgahlanong Primary School, Dikago Dintle Primary School, Molokotwa Dube Primary School, Holy Trinity Primary School and Nick Mpshe Secondary School were visited as part of their involvement in the program.

‘’ It’s our duty to serve and protect our children. With this campaign we want to ensure that all learners and teachers are safe. It’s their right to be protected and to feel safe. Children need to know that it’s their right to report any kind of criminality at any of their nearest police station. We are here to serve and protect you and we will continue to do that not because it’s our job as SAPS but with the concern of ensuring the safety of our country and its future,’’ said by the station Commander Captain Portia Malatsi.
