The Tshwane Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu introduced the new Station Commander of Rietgat Police Station Brigadier Molatelo Albert Maphoto at Rietgat .
The Acting District Commissioner was accompanied by the District’ Visible Policing (Vispol) Commander, Brigadier Thine and the Tshwane North Corridor Head and Ga-Rankuwa Station Commander, Brigadier Lehabe-Metsi.
During the introduction of the new sheriff in town, Brigadier Nkhwashu told the Rietgat’s Management that the new Commander is a foot soldier who has been in the game for a while and occupies the position with a wealth of experience.
Brigadier Maphoto’s policing journey spans almost three decades in the South African Police Service. He cut his teeth in the ruthless streets of Johannesburg and Soweto where he started his policing career back in 1992 as a student Constable and worked his way up through different ranks to the level of a Brigadier.
He is passionate about crime prevention and a people-centric commander who puts the interests of the community before his own. He is very meticulous, dedicated and determined to combat crime within the Rietgat’s precinct.
The Brigadier unequivocally promises the community of Rietgat that his mission is to fight crime. He succinctly indicated his intentions and said: “My mandate is clear… Is to combat crime and nothing else,” said Brigadier Maphoto.
The Vispol Commander, Brigadier Thine thanked Colonel Stephina Nkosi for the job well done during her tenure as the Station Commander of Rietgat.
He expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Colonel who has been at the helm of the station and said: “You have steered the Rietgat’s ship under difficult conditions and we thank you very much for everything you have done for the police station, ” Said Thine.
The Community Policing Forum’s Chairperson Mr Molefe Tau was also present with his executive committee and welcomed the new Station Commander and vowed to support him on his new journey.
