According to Makhubela, there were about 300 community members from Garankuwa gathered just outside the house where the suspects were said to be hiding.
Residents of Phase 8 in Ga-Rankuwa View have taken the law into their own hands, this after the community moered six victims accused of being part of a local gang called amaRussia, which was well known for terrorizing the community.
While taking the law into their own hands, the community ended up killing one suspect and injuring five others in the process.
After this incident, Police were currently investigating one case of murder and five cases of attempted murder.
While confirming that no suspects have been arrested as yet, Police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele detailed the moments leading up to the fatal attack of the six suspects in Ga-rankuwa where they were called about vigilantism which was said to be happening at the house around 22:00.
According to Makhubela, there were about 300 community members from Garankuwa gathered just outside the house where the suspects were said to be hiding.

“On arrival, police found about 300 community members burning tyres outside the house where community members attacked a group of people allegedly calling themselves amaRussia.
“The community ordered the alleged gang to come out of the house or else they would burn down the house. One woman and five men got out of the house and the community attacked them. A man, aged 19, was killed and certified dead on the scene, the other five were taken to hospital and the RDP house was also burnt,” said Makhubele.
He further elaborated that the victims were reported to originate from Maboloka and were accused of being responsible for crimes in the area.

“These children were staying in phase 1 and I decided to get them this house because they were being accused of criminal activities. The people he was with inside the house were his cousins. I am not OK, no mother deserves to see her child die like that,” said the grieving mother.
Makhubele assured that police were continuing with their investigations into these cases.
