In a service delivery campaign, which was spearheaded by both provincial and local government officials, residents of Hammanskraal were granted a lifeline to rub shoulders with their leaders and to voice out their concerns and challenges in their respective communities.
Some of the notable faces amongst the political leaders were MEC for Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure, Jacob Mamabolo who was accompanied by his counterpart in the City of Tshwane Dikeledi Selowa.
The government officials did not only make promises to improve service delivery in various communities in Hammanskraal, but they also got their hands dirty by participating in patching potholes and road maintenance across the township.
After patching potholes and doing road maintenance across the township, the officials further assisted motorists and taxi operators of Hammanskraal with request slots to renew driving licences which were known to be hard to get done in the area.

The campaign did not end there as dedicated government officials established two vaccination sites at Kopanong and Jubilee taxi ranks, where taxi operators and passengers queued to register to receive the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
McDonald Makata who is the Spokesperson for the Tshwane taxi industry under the South African National Taxi Council and National Taxi Alliance heaped praises on Mamabolo and Selowa for such a campaign which managed to pull a lot of people to the taxi ranks.
Numerous members of the Temba Taxi Association and their passengers got the courage to queue and get vaccinated. Makata also praised the campaign for helping many people to renew their driving licenses.
“The reason you see a large number of drivers vaccinating today is because the services are nearer to them. – Mamabolo
He referred Mamabolo as “The people’s person” for taking the needs and demands of the people of Hammanskraal very seriously and making sure they are attended to at all times.
“The reason you see a large number of drivers vaccinating today is because the services are nearer to them. Now when they are done they will go and request a slot to renew their driving licences which we appreciate because doing it by themselves online was just a nightmare,” he concluded.
