The Rietgat police are investigating a case of theft and theft of a motor vehicle that took place at a guest house in Block FF, Soshanguve in the early hours of Sunday.

According to a 40-year-old man victim, he met two ladies at a tavern in Ga-Rankuwa, Zone 4 on Sunday evening, and bought them drinks, and subsequently left with them to a guest house in Soshanguve.

Upon arrival at the guest house, they all slept together but when he woke up he was feeling dizzy and his cellphone and his 2016 German sedan were stolen. However, the police recovered the vehicle abandoned in Block JJ later on the day.

He further alleges that he was spiked by these unknown women since they had drinks together before they slept, but he recounted that at some point, he left his drink unattended.

    CAPTAIN MALULEKA

As the police, we would like to send a strong warning to men to avoid leaving their drinks unattended especially in the company of strangers. Now that pubs and taverns are operating, we would like to further urge male patrons to avoid picking up unknown women at taverns, pubs, and parks as they might fall victim to spiking that may lead to the loss of valuable assets.

This modus operandi trended during the last quarter of last year where similar cases were opened in the Rietgat’s and the Ga-Rankuwa policing precincts respectively. As the police, we would like to request members of the community to report any information that may lead to the arrest of these suspects and also report all suspicious activities to the Crime Stop number 08600-10111
