Mpho was sturdily beaten by the suspect for unknown reasons
Members of the community from Eersterust, gathered in numbers at the Moretele Magistrate Court for the third appearance of murder accused Joshua Baloi, who was arrested for brutally slaying 22 year old Mpho Mahlangu recently.
Outside the court demonstrators displayed placards wanting justice for Mpho, due to the accused lawyer being absent, the case was postponed to the 14 of June 2021.
Disappointed family Spokesperson, also the deceased uncle Jabulani Mahlangu said “the family is very dissatisfied about how the case is being handle, we are very much disenchanted and hurt, the case was postponed without us being given valid reasons and explanations besides being told that the accused lawyer is absent. We need a fair trial.”
To elucidate the day of the event according to the uncle, Mpho was sturdily beaten by the suspect for unknown reasons.
The case Crime Investigating Detective said he won’t comment due to the sensitivity of the case.
“She was found by Mpho’s Sister, after receiving a call from one of her friends informing them that she fainted after being beaten by the accused. No one knows why he brutally assaulted her, they were both in shock and after their discovery and called out for help, the accused fled the scene of the crime,” said Mahlangu.
She was rushed to Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital by her sister and brother-in-law where she later passed on
Mpho`s aunt Zanele Mahlangu said that there was no romantic relationship between the two.
“The accused who is responsible for the murder of my niece was not even her boyfriend, It was not the first time she assaulted Mpho, we had numeral reports of him abusing and making sexual advances to my niece. We will prevail if proper justice system, is being practiced during Mpho`s court case,”
The family has also thanked the community for coming in numbers and showing support during difficult times.
