Man escapes necklacing attempt

ASoshanguve man in his mid twenties was nearly sent to an early grave by angry community members baying for his blood recently.

This comes after members of the public attempted to necklace the alleged criminal at Block V extension following an alleged commission of a crime he is believed to be to have been involved in.
But during police investigations none of the community members could come forward and shed any light of the crime in question or implicate the suspected man. No community members were arrested for their involvement in the act.

Rietgat Police Spokeperson Stephen Maluleka “As the station, we would like to warn the public to desist from taking the law into their own hands and report any criminal activities regardless of the person involved in that criminal activity. If the community members suspects that any member of the community has committed criminal offences it is incumbent on them to report the matter to the police for further expert investigation.”

“Mob justice is akin to any crime and should anyone be found to be involved in any act of mob justice, they will be subjected to the justice processes and face prosecution in accordance with their actions,” said Maluleka
